Obituary of Ethel I. Glen
Wyoming – Ethel I. “A” Glen, 88, a resident of Riverview in East Peoria, formerly of Wyoming, died at 5:00 a.m. Tuesday, August 24, 2010, at Manor Care at Riverview.
She was born November 26, 1921, at Castleton, IL, the daughter of John Allen and Agnes Kissinger Holmes. She married Wallace “Buck” Glen on March 10, 1946, in Castleton. He preceded her in death on April 20, 2009, in Wyoming. Also preceding her in death were three brothers, Vernon, Bob, and Gordon Holmes; and one sister, Mabel Munson.
Surviving are two sons, Mark (Alisa) Glen of Wyoming, and Dan (Lisa) Glen of Phoenix, AZ; four grandchildren, Jamie Glen, Jennifer Glen, Brandon Glen, and Adam Glen; one brother, Myron (Mary Jane) Holmes of Castleton; and one sister, Miriam St. John of Conway, AR.
She worked for a time as a bookkeeper for the Colgan John Deere Dealership and also worked for the Wyoming Library. She was a member of the American Legion Post 91 Auxiliary and of the Wyoming United Methodist Church.
Cremation has been accorded. A private family graveside service will be held at Wyoming Cemetery. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, August 28, 2010, at the Wyoming United Methodist Church. Rev. Andrew Hopp will officiate.
Memorial contributions may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice.
